Under The Blanket

Tír na nÓg believes that every child has the right to medical care and assistance. We believe that every child has the right to not only survive but to thrive and reach their full potential.

A considerable number of Tanzanian children suffer from malnutrition and more than 70% of Tanzanian children suffer from severe anaemia. The rate of infant mortality remains high with the main causes being malaria, anaemia, pneumonia, malnutrition, diarrhoea and HIV/AIDS.

Many of our children arrived suffering from malnutrition leading to impaired growth and development. We aim to provide all the children in our care with proper nutritious and balanced meals. We feel that adequate nutrition and a healthy diet are the building blocks for a healthy brain, mind and body. We use our own sustainably grown food from our farm to provide three balanced meals to the children every day.

We also provide life saving formula milk to severely malnourished babies.

We offer treatment from the clinics and hospitals to all of the children in our care from whatever ailments they may be suffering from.

Tír na nÓg offers training courses for staff members and victims of HIV/AIDS to educate themselves in the management of the disease.

We offer medical assistance to girls and women that have been raped and as a result have suffered miscarriages.
